It was a Baptiste Power Yoga class where she walked away feeling different than she had felt before. She was instantly hooked by the strength, love and joy that she felt after each class. After two years of growing through a dedicated practice, Karina took the next step and completed her teacher certificate program in September of 2009. Through yoga, Karina has found the confidence to accept whatever life throws her way and strengthen her relationships. Through the studios, she has meet amazing people who are now a part of her life. She has also learned to have compassion for all, and most importantly, herself. Karina has taught for Hot Spot since they opened. Kintu Makanji

RYT-200, Baptiste Methodology
RYT-500

Kintu started a consistent Baptiste power yoga practice in the summer of 2007 with the hopes of gaining energy and loosing pregnancy weight. At first she found the practice extremely challenging, but the benefits she felt kept her committed to working through the resistance. For the first time in her life she felt a connection to her mind, body and heart. This connection grew in depth with every practice and training. She considers herself to be a lifelong student of yoga and is passionate about sharing the power of the practice.

Kintu holds a B.S. in Biology from the University of Central Florida and an RYT-500 Yoga Teacher Certification through Yoga Alliance. She is grateful to all her teachers she's had the privilege to study with including Baron Baptiste, Sarah Powers and Sadhguru.

Lori Drake

RYT-200, Baptiste Methodology

Lori discovered yoga by dropping into a Bikram studio in 2003. It was the hardest thing she had ever experienced and laid flat on her back most of the class. She thought that if she could ever make it through an entire class standing then she would be able to accomplish anything in life. That kept her coming back to yoga. Eventually she wanted to branch out and see what other styles were available which is when she discovered Baptiste Power Yoga. She has built a committed personal practice in the Baptiste community as her love for the practice offers her a place to clear her mind, get a killer workout, and overcome her own personal fears. As a teacher she hopes to inspire others to have fun and to feel the joy and benefits of their own yoga practice. Outside of the studio Lori loves going to concerts/ music festivals and volunteering at the local theaters.

Maria O'Donnell

Maria O'Donnell RYT-200, MBody Yoga Teacher Certification Program Maria began her yoga practice in high school with her best friend whose father was an Ashtanga yoga teacher. Throughout college and her five years living in Southeast Asia, Maria continued to practice many different styles of yoga and found the introspection and reflection through the movement of body and breath to be incredibly healing. Maria was introduced to Mbody through a donation based class at a local studio lead by an Mbody teacher. Completely enthralled with the rhythm and flow of the class, she then found herself at her first heated ninety minute practice at Mbody's Neptune Beach studio. Maria knew she was at home with the sweat, spirit and energy of the studio and became a regular practitioner. Maria completed Mbody's Teacher Certification Program in October 2010 and is dedicated to her yoga practice, self-growth and development as a teacher and as a healthy balanced individual with a desire to give back to her community. Maria also works in early childhood education and social services and would like to connect the world of yoga and healing with people of all socioeconomic brackets; self-empowerment is something yoga offers and communities need. Maria has a strong interest in art, especially painting, traveling and is in the process of becoming certified in children's yoga.

Denise discovered yoga while recovering from a car accident in Minnesota. She had a Baron Baptiste DVD where she practiced from home watching the DVD. And through this she was inspired to develop and maintain a regular practice at the studio. As a teacher Denise hopes to share the joy, freedom, growth and life transformation that she experiences through her own practice, training and everyday life. Outside of the studio Denise likes to travel, be outdoors, spend time at the beach, she enjoys the arts, and spending time with family and friends.

Whitney Heflin

RYT-200, Baptiste Methodology
Advanced Teacher Training, Baptiste Methodology

Whitney discovered yoga in 2010 when she asked a friend to recommend a local yoga studio.
She had heard yoga was a great workout and had the added benefit of quieting the mind. In search of a little peace of mind, Whitney attended a class offered by a local Baptiste Affiliated studio, and was immediately hooked. Having benefited so greatly from the sense of centeredness, peace and good health this style of yoga provided for her, Whitney embarked on becoming a certified yoga teacher the spring of 2012 so she could share this wonderful practice with others. Her intention as an instructor is to teach her students how to find peace and ease in their heart and in their mind through Baptiste influenced power yoga. Outside the studio, Whitney works in the finance, accounting and risk management field for a Wellness company. She holds a Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, both from the University of North Florida. Outside of work and the yoga room, Whitney enjoys spending time with her friends and family, attempting to train her 75lb unruly Golden Retriever, outdoors, concerts, and traveling.
